Historic Hyde Park Neighborhood Association

| HHPNA | BOARD OF DIRECTORS |

Historic Hyde Park Neighborhood Association, or HHPNA, is a non-profit neighborhood association chartered on August 30, 1996. All residents within the HHPNA boundaries are members of the association. In the past 10 years we have grown to a dues-paying membership of more than 125 households and property owners. Our members are active in support of our neighborhood and in preserving the historic integrity of the community.

Our boundary runs along Bayshore Blvd. Between Rome and Howard Avenues where it turns north along Howard to the LeRoy Selmon Expressway, then along the LeRoy Selmon to DeLeon Ave where it turns east. DeLeon is the northern boundary east to North Boulevard, where North Blvd becomes the easterly boundary south to Swann Ave. At Swann the boundary returns west to Rome Ave., then south to Bayshore again. See the neighborhood map.

HHPNA is a civic association rather than a homeowners association. Dues-paying membership is voluntary. We do not enforce deed restrictions, which to a large degree are absent from property originally developed between the late 1880s and the 1930s. The neighborhood is part of, and supports the city's Hyde Park Historic District. Exterior rehabilitation, additions and new construction are subject to compliance of the Hyde Park Design Guidelines and the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation and Guidelines for Rehabilitating Historic Buildings.

A Board of Directors provides the governance for HHPNA. It is composed of between 7 and 10 directors elected by the members. The Board elects a President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer from within its ranks.

The association maintains several standing committees and creates ad hoc committees to address issues that come up from time to time. The standing committees include:

  • Membership
  • Nominating
  • Traffic and Parking
  • Zoning
