HYDE PARK - The new owners of Old Hyde Park Village revealed plans to give the more than 20-year-old outdoor mall a makeover in 2007, promising new stores, residences and a city lifestyle.
But first Wasserman Realty Capital dropped "old" from the name, Sunrise Cinemas closed and Brooks Brothers moved.
The Cactus Club building will be the first for renovations. When completed, it will house The Wine Exchange, Abbott's Frozen Custard and The Southside Bistro.
Plans for two condominium towers to replace Sunrise Cinemas and Brooks Brothers hit initial snags in June for being too tall and out of character with the historical neighborhood.
New plans for 87-foot and 65-foot residential and retail towers will be presented Feb. 7 to the city's Architectural Review Commission. The towers would bring about 230 residences.
